Location: Virginia Beach area
Theme: "Shoot, Edit, Share" - Learn to create professional videos from start to finish

DAY 1: EQUIPMENT & SHOOTING BASICS

"Lights, Camera, Action!"

9:00 - 9:30 AM - Check-in & Welcome

  • Distribute goodie bags (branded t-shirts, lanyards, water bottles)

  • Ice breaker activities

  • Camp overview & safety briefing

9:30 - 10:30 AM - Equipment 101

  • Camera basics (phones & entry-level cameras)

  • Understanding lenses and what they do

  • Microphone types and when to use them

  • Stabilizers (handheld, tripods, gimbals)

10:30 - 10:45 AM - BREAK

10:45 AM - 12:00 PM - Technical Fundamentals

  • White balance & exposure basics

  • Frame rates (24fps vs 60fps for slow motion)

  • Resolution settings

  • Best audio settings & mic placement

12:00 - 1:00 PM - LUNCH

1:00 - 2:30 PM - Cinematography Basics

  • Top 10 rules of composition

  • Camera angles that tell stories

  • Basic lighting (natural light techniques)

  • 5 basic camera movements

2:30 - 3:45 PM - HANDS-ON PRACTICE

  • Break into small groups (3-4 kids each)

  • Practice shooting B-roll at the beach/outdoor location

  • Experiment with different angles and movements

  • Capture various shots for Day 2 editing

DAY 2: EDITING & STORYTELLING

  • Navigating the editing software

  • Importing footage & organizing files

  • Timeline basics & keyboard shortcuts

  • Sifting through footage efficiently

10:45 AM - 12:00 PM - Building Your Story

  • How to structure a video (beginning, middle, end)

  • Editing to music

  • Creating engaging sequences

  • Top 10 cuts & transitions

12:00 - 1:00 PM - LUNCH

1:00 - 2:00 PM - Color & Audio Basics

  • Basic color correction

  • Simple color grading techniques

  • Audio mixing fundamentals

  • Adding sound effects

2:00 - 3:30 PM - HANDS-ON EDITING

  • Students edit their Day 1 footage

  • Create 30-60 second videos

  • Instructors provide one-on-one guidance

  • Add music from royalty-free libraries

3:30 - 3:45 PM - BREAK

3:45 - 4:00 PM - Daily Wrap-up & Homework

  • Finish edits at home (optional)

  • Preview Day 3 final project


DAY 3: FINAL PROJECT & SHOWCASE

"Create, Complete, Celebrate!"

9:00 - 9:30 AM - Morning Briefing

  • Final project assignment: Create a 1-2 minute "Day in the Life" or "Beach Adventure" video

  • Form production teams (4-5 kids each)

  • Assign roles: Director, Camera Operator, Audio, Talent

9:30 - 11:30 AM - PRODUCTION TIME

  • Teams shoot their final projects

  • Location: Beach, boardwalk, or camp area

  • Instructors supervise and provide guidance

  • Capture interviews, B-roll, action shots

11:30 AM - 12:00 PM - Transfer Footage & Setup

12:00 - 1:00 PM - LUNCH

1:00 - 3:00 PM - FINAL EDITING SPRINT

  • Teams edit their final projects

  • Apply everything learned (composition, color, audio, transitions)

  • Export final videos

  • Create simple thumbnails

3:00 - 3:15 PM - BREAK & SETUP SCREENING

3:15 - 3:45 PM - FILM FESTIVAL SCREENING

  • Screen all final projects

  • Parents invited to attend

3:45 - 4:00 PM - Closing Ceremony
